Your Adoption Roadmap

Congratulations on welcoming your newest Amazing Mutt into your family!

Your adoption is just the beginning. This page outlines what’s included with your pet’s adoption, important upcoming care milestones, and trusted professional resources to help set you and your pet up for long-term success.

Reminder: Your adoption packet includes the information below, as well as some additional information!

Setting Your Amazing Mutt Up for Success

Current Feed

When your Amazing Mutt entered our rescue, our feed of choice is NutriSource Puppy (or Adult if over 1 year.) If you want to transition to a different brand, it is an 8 Day process: Day 1 & 2- 75% old, 25% new; Day 3 & 4- 50% old, 50% new; Day 5 to 7- 25% old, 75% new. By Day 8 your dog should be receiving 100% new food!

Fi Nano Microchip Activation

Your dogs microchip is ready to be activated! Microchips are not a "GPS," but in the event your dog goes missing, your information is stored on the chip & can be scanned to help reunite dog & owner! Make sure to include your most up to date information. Information on the chip can be updated at any time, so hold onto your account information!

Distemper Vaccine

When you adopt your Amazing Mutt, the remainder of their Distemper Vaccine series is included. Be sure to check your adoption packet in the "Canine Treatment Form" section to see if and when you need to make a follow up vaccine appointment at our shop! The series has to be completed within a set amount of time, or it will have to be restarted, so make sure you stay on top of due dates! Contact information can be found within the packet!

Spay & Neuter

You are welcome to use your own vet to Spay (females) or Neuter (males), however the adoption fee includes the surgical portion of your pets procedure. The 1st and 2nd page of your contract has your "Spay/ Neuter" by date. If you choose one of our vets, the surgical portion of your dogs procedure will be covered- you are required to pay for any bloodwork or medications. If you book after the date or choose your own vet, you are forfeiting the surgical fee included with the adoption, and must pay full price at your chosen practice. You can find information of our vets on the About Page.
